Getting a cartoon that actually looks like you
Every one of these styles works by discarding detail and rebuilding your face from simpler shapes. That means the source photo carries the whole result: if the model cannot read your eye line and jaw clearly, it fills in something generic and the output stops looking like you.
In practice that rules out the usual suspects — harsh side lighting, extreme camera angles, sunglasses, hair across the face, an existing beauty filter that has already smoothed the features, and low-resolution faces cropped from group photos. Run people one at a time, too: the filters are built around a single clear face in frame. If you want everyone together in one image, the family portrait feature is the better tool for that.
